Back to my roots................

My doll collecting started with the fashion dolls. I've always loved fashion. I guess that's why Barbie was my favorite toy as a child.................no baby dolls for me, give me a Barbie or a Dawn doll anyday when I was a little girl. I began my adult collecting with Barbie as well, but when the 16" fashion dolls came along I soon switched to ( Read more... )

Thanks! SHe has that sense of realism the Iple's have, but she's more "high" fashion than any of my Iple girls.(and a lot smaller, LOL) I can see her walking the runway. I've really been enjoying her. It's fun to play with something different occasionally.

These are cool photos! I've never photographed my smaller dolls...it seems like it would be hard.

Oh I also had tons of Barbies...and a couple of Dawn dolls as a kid. My mom bought me baby dolls for Christmas and I never connected with them. LOL. I do have a couple of Gene dolls and a couple Taylor dolls...but just as I was getting into them I reacquainted myself with bjds and discovered Iplehouse...and though I'll occasionally get a Silkstone Barbie I haven't bought any others (yet). I do have some porcelain and vinyl dolls that are even larger than my EIDs. I should try to sell some of those to make room. LOL Sell the porcelain dolls that is.

I also have a collection of Teddy Bears and friends...as a very small kid I liked animals better than most dolls.

Oh, I love teddy bears too, and actually collected Boyd's bears for quite a while before I got heavily interested in the dolls.

Sasha is a dream to photograph. her skintone is like the Iple realskin and she came beatifullyy blushed. I've really been enjoying her today. It's fun to have a doll that can use all the fashion doll clothes I have accumulated over the years (Lord knows I have TONS of them). This size will never replace my Iple's, but it's fun to play with something different occasionally.

Yea, I have some Boyd's bears too! LOL. And some Steiff and other various artists critters.

Yes, it's fun to play with the different types of dolls we collect. In fact I think it's why in my bjds I have mostly guys...because for years and years the females dominated. Ken was ok...but never cool. LOL.

Male dolls have come a long way, haven't they? I remember when I first started into the BJD hobby I thought I'd be safe from the males because I was never attracted to the SD13 size..................the faces were all to immature. The Dollshe's never really grabbed me either...........then came Iple, and the rest as they say is history, ROFL! The Iple EID's are more reminescent of real men,(and real hunky, buff, alpha hero type men at that) not boys, I think that's why I fell for them so hard.
