This story is freaky as hell! What is that THING?? Is it human, or was it once human? Shapeshifter, as Sam has guessed, or demon, maybe? (Sorry -- thinking aloud, here!)
One quick thing, though: you've got this story set in Sept/Oct of 2005, which is technically before Dean showed up at Stanford to ask Sam to help him look for their Dad. Did you maybe mean 2006? I can't remember if this was mentioned in the story summary, but is this supposed to be set in season 1 or season 2? (I'm just wondering if John is still alive. lol)
Great start and I'm looking forward to reading more. :)
Hmmm, according to Superwiki, Dead in the Water was speculated to have taken place 13-19 November, 2005. In the story info, I mention the timeline is after Dead in the Water, so oopsie, this should be set late November 2005, not October, but definitely 2005. I'll fix that. I appreciate you pointing that out.
Glad you're intrigued and I hope you remain so engrossed all the way to the end. It's a twisty and turny road all the way there, so buckle up! Oh, and if you notice any other slips, please to let me know :D
Holy Crap! I found this over on ff.net and despite being finding LJ a total maze, I just had to come see this, complete and with ThruTerry'sEyes's stunning imagery. I have to say, it was well worth the time it took me to find (I am hopeless at LJ). I'm competely hooked. I love the waitresses fawning over Dean, a very realistic reaction and poor Dean, too exhausted from taking care of Sam to be able to take advantage. The monster(?) in the prologue was terrifying and I fear Dean has landed himself in some deep and very serious s**t this time. Got to go - need to read more...
