It really is.

Ann, somewhat to her surprise, has found a couple of actors who had seen her, either at the De Luxe or with the vaudeville troupe -- not to mention more than a few who she's seen and admired.

So she's a little starry-eyed when she stops by the refreshment table for a flute of champagne.

When Ann approaches the refreshment table, she may notice Jack sloppily pouring himself a glass of punch. Distancing himself from Times Square has done little but remove the added irritation of a twitching eye. It has not quieted his mind, because he isn’t mentally practicing an important conversation with a landmark. He’s thinking of a conversation with someone at the party. Ann.

Suffice it to say he’s been too distracted to be entirely social.

It's the sloppy that catches her attention. She sidles up and leans against the table.
