THE FEDERAL THEATER PRESENTS:
A NEW WORK BY JACK DRISCOLL
"CRY HAVOC!"
a COMEDY

Where's Jack? Who knows. Backstairs arguing, giving a prep talk, or just listening. Wherever he is, he's not in the lobby. Yet.

kanon finale

The door opens, and a blonde enters with a blond. The attendees of tonight's premier will never know these two aren't from 1933. As usual, Bar played the role of wardrobe designer, though the blonde did her own hair. Hey, Bar only does hair when she's playing a joke.

Silvia on his arm, Jack (no, not that one, the blond one) steps in, glancing around the room, checking out entrances, exists, hiding places, occupants, all out of habit. He tries to stand naturally, though he can't help but wonder if he looks out of place. Bar had given him the right clothes, but his hair...

Someone who projects an image of fitting in can get away with some things that would otherwise stand out. Even if everything fits, if you look uncomfortable, it'll make you stand out right away. The memory of his training helps, and he lets his muscles relax. Nothing to see here. Just a man with a beautiful woman on his arm, here for opening night.

He turns his head, smiling at Silvia.

Tonight will be a night of doppelgangers, uncanny lookalikes, and men with the same name. "Confusing" doesn't cut it.

Silvia's had experience with trying to blend in, so entering a theater lobby is no big deal. She looks around for the other Jack with no success, looks at her Jack with a nervous smile. "He must be with the cast."

He nods, looking around for Jack once he's scanned the room and found nothing amiss. "Probably, or making sure everything is set up. Big night for him." He tugs on his bowtie for a moment, not convinced that it's on right. "Are you sure this thing's straight?"

In the midst of friendly conversations and discussions on the latest plays (and that sideshow on Broadway), Jack Driscoll emerges from the theater yet again, looking more relaxed and happier than he did when he first appeared. His eyes are on everybody, and quite a few eyes are on him.

"Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen," he announces in a projected voice, "the performance is just about to begin. If you'd all enter the theater and claim your seats, we should begin in about ten minutes."

After his announcement is made, his eyes fall on his own, specially invited group of guests.

[If he frowns a little at Raven, well...that is all in your mind. Srsly.]

Raven just grins back at him.

With teeth.

It is a good thing the seats are not entirely uncomfortable, because a twitchy Raven is no fun for anyone.

Least of all the actors.

And their props.

Mary Anne eyes the not!twitchy bird, then hooks an arm in his.

"Suppose we should get inside, then. Wouldn't want anyone stealing our seets."

"Sounds like a good idea," Jack says, offering his arm to Silvia as they head for the auditorium.
