Another awesome thing that happened recently: we bought a metric shit-ton of peaches. (Note: one metric shit-ton is equivalent to 44 pounds in this example.) Here's what we made:
Just eating them straight? I guess that sounds good... I tried one of the boozy peach slices the other day, though, and it tasted too alcoholic for me. Maybe I'll bake them into something...
I am envious of your metric shit ton of peaches. And your jarring/bagging adventure. I think activities like this would get me excited about food again.
Any suggestions for apples, aside from pies and sauce?
Apple butter is pretty awesome. Basically made the same way as apple sauce, just keep cooking it down. Fruit leather is tasty, too. You can can apples, though I've never tried it. Apple cakes, fritters, and other pastry-type things are yummy, but hard to go through large quantities of fruit that way.
