See, now, did they go and change the meaning of "nonplussed" on us? Because I always thought that it meant "unfazed," and am forever surprised that it's closer to the opposite.

Betrayed by the English language!

That's how I felt! I've been using "nonplussed" as a synonym for "unfazed" for years now. Glad I'm not alone!

So this is where you got off to! Somehow when you changed names, I lost track of you (my friendslist is too damn long, I didn't even notice that the old name had gone missing), and I didn't really go looking very hard again until just now. Came looking because there was an interesting poem at Slate, about being a gaijin teacher in Japan... I thought you might like it.
