Thank you to everyone who participated and voted on this challenge, it's greatly appreciated! As you can see, there was a tie for first place and since there were only 3 drabbles, that leaves no recipient for the 3rd place award. Here are your banners courtesy of the wonderful chris4short! Feel free to save them, upload them into your own server and display as you see fit. Do not hotlink the images, please, and do leave us a note letting us know you saw/took them!

Title: Midnight
Author: elinor_godwin

For the better part of two hours they had been tracking a particularly elusive weevil, and when a loud bang rang out she jumped and aimed her Glock into the night. "What the hell was that?"

"It's midnight, Gwen."

"And?"

"Happy New Year…"

"Oh." She tucked her gun away and wondered how she had forgotten. "Shit, I'm supposed to be at a party drinking champagne with Rhys."

"I'm all out of champagne. Sorry."

"And midnight kisses?"

Jack closed the space between them, needing no further invitation and caught her lips in a quick but ardent kiss.

"Happy New Year, Gwen."

Title: New Year's Panic
Author: luxuria_oceanus

Gwen tries to force her hands free. "Bloody New Year's Eve and where am I? Trapped in a coffin about to be buried alive."

"Keep doing that and you're gonna get rope burn." Jack warns her with his hands tied above his head.

Gwen's lying chest down on top of him. "Jack, I'm no good in closed spaces."

"I can tell."

"I tend to panic."

"So I hear."

"It's New Year's Eve."

In an attempt to silence her he seizes her mouth into a hungry kiss which she returns feverishly, making him laugh into her impatient mouth, "Happy New Year."

Christmas came and went. The snow stayed and chilled Gwen’s bones more and more everyday. Long work hours and little sleep had given very little time to prepare for another year as it quickly approached.

The fact that New Year’s Eve had come upon everyone slipped by until Jack was standing beside her over looking Cardiff far below. She gladly accepted his coat and turned into his embrace, eyes toward the sky, lit up by fireworks.

Below was the sound of cheers, laughter and music. As it should’ve been.

“We have another assignment,” he said.

“Job security, eh?”

Jack laughed.

Thank you so much for participating guys, and congrats to those who won! Hope you try again next time!
