Jack knew that the moment Gwen agreed to work for him, that her personal life was doomed. He had given her the same speech he gave everyone when they were hired. Do one thing for me… don’t let the job consume you.
He watched as Torchwood went from a job to an obsession. Watched as she spent less and less time at home with her boyfriend. Listened as she lied to Rhys on a daily basis. As she found excuses not to go home and eventually ended up in Owen’s bed.
Watched as the job consumed her.
It always did.
