It'd been two months since Mr. Hans had moved out and still no one had moved in. He began to forget the possibility of having a new neighbor and of having a new friend as he kept on doing the routine he'd done for the past couple of years. He ignored the annoying 7 year old girl who kept trying to talk his ear off because he was the closest person to her age group and also ignored the high schooler's that kept their distance from the children of the block. Yup, everything was as it always had been and he sighed as he waited for the bus to stop.
Suddenly, he began to hear whispers among the high schooler's.
"Who's that?"
"Did the new neighbors finally move in?"
"Seems like it. Look, they have three girls our age!" One of the boys exclaimed, seeming excited and Min frowned.
What the hell was so exciting about having a girl your age? They were just annoying.
He decided to ignore the other's gossip and felt a little disheartened that he hadn't gotten a playmate as a neighbor, but decided that having Yunho, Junsu, and Yoochun at school should be enough. He couldn't wait to be able to drive, so that he could visit them in town more often after school. He smiled to himself as the bus stopped and the girl that had been talking to him went in first. He followed after her and felt the presence of someone else behind him.
He looked inside the bus and saw the seats available, deciding to sit in the middle section. The front was for children and the back for high schooler's. He sat down all the way, close to the window where he could see outside, and was shocked when he felt someone sit next to him.
Now that he remembers it, it seemed like time stood still for him then.
He'd turned as if in slow motion, his heart raced for some unknown reason, and then he came face to face with the most beautiful child he'd ever met... at least, he'd thought so then.
Skin a pale white, eyes a dark brown... nearly black... that he'd never before seen, cheeks flushed pink and plump red lips... all of that framed in the darkest ear length hair he'd ever seen. Without knowing why, he flushed a deep red when the other child looked at him.
At the moment, he hadn't been entirely sure whether it was a boy or girl.
"Do you have a problem with me?" The little boy had gritted out angrily, taking a defensive attitude.
Changmin had been shocked when he heard that voice. It was a boy? Then why had his heart sped up and why had he blushed? Acting like a love sick school girl?
He cleared his throat and answered. "N-no. I-I just wondered who you were and was tr-" he paused. He couldn't tell him that he'd tried to figure out whether he was a boy or a girl. That would surely offend him. He knew he'd be offended if someone called him a girl. "I-I mean. I was just wondering if you were my new neighbor. I'm Shim. Shim Changmin." He finished off cheerily while smiling and stretching his hand for a handshake, just as he'd seen his father do with some of his friends.
He saw how the boy looked at him while frowning, his features slowly relaxed, and he tentatively smiled while meeting his hand.
"I'm Kim Jaejoong. Nice to meet you." Jaejoong said while doing a mini bow at the same time as he shook Changmin's hand.
Changmin's heart fluttered once more, but he convinced himself it was just excitement to finally have a friend to talk to.
After all, a boy couldn't get a crush on another boy, could they?
He hadn't known it then, but that's the exact moment Kim Jaejoong stole his heart.
