Any of you folks know much about US immigration and ways to circumvent it? I'm curious.

You could marry a US Citizen, I think that gets you an instant Green Card.

I thought there were controls in place to stop marriages of convenience for just that reason?

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/gaining-permanent-resident-status-or-a-green-card-.html this should give you all the knowledge you need for such a situation.

Though, failing that (for legal reasons) I think all the US citizens that need you over here should sign a petition. *nod*

I know someone who somewhat recently moved here from the UK. I could poke him about his experiences if you have any specific questions you want me to forward.

Or move to Canada ;)
I know here people can "sponser" someone - basically say "we will feed and house this person until they can support themselves while they get citizenship". Maybe there is a similar process there?

If this is for you, and you wanted to look at canada, I could certainly look into the details of us sponsering you here, just let me know.

Varka did this recently, so I imagine the details are fresh in his mind. I could also ask a few of my colleagues who've come in from the UK and Finland, if you're curious.

That, and look at extending our space to fit one or two new residents. <3

Varka's a bit of a different story, since he's the CEO of an America-based company. It opens quite a few doors. :)

Fewer than you might think. Small business is excessively common here (and deeply, deeply scrutinized), so it's still a hard process to justify the move. Furthermore, they were also looking into it for Nemekh, I believe, whom doesn't have that benefit.

It'd be easiest to just ask fellow coworkers, though. Quite a few of them hopped the pond in this direction for business and family reasons. If you're curious, do let me know.
