I won tickets through KDHX, but forgot when the show was, never wrote it down & didn't realize it was last night. Dang.
Also, we got into Brendan Benson in the first place due to a Foo Fighters radio interview I heard back in 1995. A call-in fan asked what underground or under-the-radar bands the Foo Fighters could reommend. Nate Mendel listed a few, including Lungfish and Drive Like Jehu. Dave Grohl emphatically described a new singer-songwriter who was friends with his (now ex-) wife. He really talked it up, describing the amazing four-track demos he had heard, and explained how this guy was going to be the next big thing. Time went on, and maybe about a year later, I saw a used copy of One Mississippi at Now Playing on Manchester. After briefly listening to the first few tracks on the DiscMan listening station, I bought it, and the rest is history.
Tight man, I actually THOUGHT it had something to do with a Dave Grohl interview, but I don't know that I ever heard said interview, or if maybe I had just heard ABOUT it. THE REST IS HISTORY!
I would not miss it even if someone gave me one million dollars to do so. (Well maybe that isn't true, I'd probably take the money and split it with you guys later.) Anyway what I'm trying to say is YES WE SHALL PARTY. I might need you guys to pick me up this time though (I know it is a far way, but what is too far for tradition, eh?).
