Making a bigger better signal Part 1

As most folks on my flist know, I have a recording studio set up at home.

I aim to make good recordings and over time this means I should get better quality gear.

My first upgrades to the studio are sound treatment for the recording room, and a better microphone preamp.

I've priced up the sound treatment option and just have to find a spare $500 ( Read more... )

I've priced up the sound treatment option and just have to find a spare $500 floating about before I can consider building broad-band absorbers to treat for modal reflections and comb filtering in the room.

Can't you just hoard egg cartons and foam packing material and paste them to the walls?

Um no - I wish it were that simple - LOL

That'd merely kill the top end, but it's all in the sub 400Hz region that I really need the treatment.

Besides, I really don't eat that many eggs - LOL

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about electronically when you get past the voltage, but it sounds like you're having fun with your equipment. I hope you and V have a good weekend! Cheers :-)
