if you want to know how many people read your posts you can put up a counter. i always do that for my art. it's surprizing how many people visit the journal and the maybe 10% that actually comment. i use this site http://www.bestfreehitcounters.com/ (but you have to make a post first to get the link and then just edit it and add the counter)
