There's something almost appealing about sliding away to avoid embarrassment. I have a low shame threshold.

What I loved the most were all the little differences between worlds, and how you illustrated Adam's ability to roll with them.

My own fervent wish that the earth would occasionally open up and swallow me is what led to this, so I empathize. ;)

Thanks!

You know, the nearer your destination, the more you're slip slidin' away. -- Paul Simon

It's a whimsical concept for certain and one we all have considered, just disappearing from our embarrassments and dealing with some other situation where they didn't happen.

Oh, this is such an intriguing concept! I can understand the appeal, but aren't all those early coping mechanisms always a tricky mess of hurt? This is such a well told tale. You had me running to keep up.

This story is fantastic. I love how psychology and physics combine to create the solution to a very confusing problem.

What a neat idea for this prompt! And that poor guy-- having it happen so young, and just keep going. It looks as if he never returned to his original world-- one moment of embarrassment and he was banished from his own universe.

That would sure make it hard to want to form an attachment to anyone. You would leave nearly every relationship first-- literally!

Thank you! It's an idea I had earlier, put into the idea-file, and stuffed away until I had need of it...came in handy, this week! :)
