Ah! I almost thought it was non-fiction till the reached the end. That means it was so well -written. I loved the Dad for being so patient and understanding. Superb take on the prompt. Loved it! I was introduced to the clarinet by Shanker Tucker, he's one amazing musician. Great read.

This one sure hit close to home. I had a very critical mother, and in playing the violin went from being confident and blase about it to the point where I had performance anxiety the hit me during auditions, solo performances, and even in playing for my violin teacher. I did major in music, but not as a performer-- and that anxiety was why.

I could really relate to the daughter being afraid of her father's opinion and of not being "good enough" for his expectations. As it turned out, much of that was in her head, but I wasn't so lucky.

I understand this was fiction, so even more kudos in getting such authenticity in it!

Ah, Flight of the Bumblebee. I played it on the xylophone in high school. Amazing piece but damned hard to play.

There was so much emotion captured in this. Beautifully written. :)
