I am eating mint julep peaches, and all of the general misanthropy and the low yet incessant hum of depression I've been feeling lately is forgotten.

I miss my grandmother's goolash. I mean, it's essentially nothing more than macaroni in a marinara-ish sause with small bits of ground beef, but she made it *good*. The only meat-based dish I actually miss.

That sounds simple enough (although the devil is in the details, I'm sure) that you/we/Ms Morii could reinvent it using Morning Star or Quorn crumbly bits.

My grandmother had a cherry salad she used to make with whipped cream and all sorts of other stuff in it. It had to be a thousand calories a bite, but you felt like you were in heaven the moment it hit your mouth.
