Y'all.  While not working on Chapter 2, I found a dissertation fellowship.  Fellowships are hard to come by these days - national searches, a flood of needy students, and requirements out the wazoo make it a long shot for anyone, especially someone not from an Ivy League school.  Mix in the disadvantage of 1) not being a racial or ethnic minority*

Go for it! And the minority/disadvantaged thing is odd, but a long time ago I got a scholarship for being of English extraction, though this was as an undergrad. It helped for me to think of any little thing to add to the money search.
