Today marked the first full day of the 2007 Northwest Anthropology Conference, although there was also a reception held the evening before. It was also fun to hear about the historical archaeology taking place at Vancouver; especially in relation to the letters of Ulysses Grant before he became president. Apparently he loaned money to a sutler to start a store but was never repaid, so there's a whole paper trail of him complaining about the situation to his father-in-law and asking for help. Apparently the store also burned down under mysterious circumstances, too.
I wouldn't mind seeing Sauvie Island some time.
