Looks like an interesting confernece. It's silly, but I think it's cool that two of the lectures concern Sauvie Island. I use to live on Sauvie, it's beautiful. We should go out there sometime when you are in town.

There were actually ten lectures on Sauvie Island - all from students at my former community college - but I skipped the first half to catch the opening of the Fort Vancouver series, and some of the others (no 6, 8, 9) use more generalized titles. I was impressed to see representatives from SPSCC, as it was the only community college there.

It was also fun to hear about the historical archaeology taking place at Vancouver; especially in relation to the letters of Ulysses Grant before he became president. Apparently he loaned money to a sutler to start a store but was never repaid, so there's a whole paper trail of him complaining about the situation to his father-in-law and asking for help. Apparently the store also burned down under mysterious circumstances, too.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sauvie Island some time.
