I have found the key (for me at least) with a detail heavy project is to do lots and lots of samples. They have the added bonus of being helpful reference later.

I can see how that would work, but still...

Really amazing work. I'm in awe of your ability to get the pattern to line up so perfectly. And those red threaded lines? *sigh* Maybe someday...

I totally did a sample of the front :)

I used white interfacing on the inside, and drew in the center front line (intersection point) on both sides. I then drew in the diagonal lines making sure they matched at the CF. I stitched all of the red lines from the back following the guide lines.

If your machine has a quilting foot with an adjustable bar that also helps, you can set it to any interval you want.
