In anticipation of all the sitting in cars/other transit I will be doing in the coming holiday weekend; I finally sat down and finished the prep-work to start embroidering a pair of 18th century pockets!
I am going to attempt! What I am planning probably won't be as intricate as the eye candy. Think colored line drawing? I am notoriously bad at not-finishing embroidery projects (Beading is an altogether different story). I think I have only ever finished one project, and that was this fichu: http://izodiea.livejournal.com/14088.html
I don't want to think about all the 1/4 done projects I have thrown away...
Ugh, I completely understand. I can't stand embroider and did one beading project. (Which drove me so crazy that I have vowed never again. Hand sewing 1,400 glass beads onto an outfit is insane! Insane I tell you!)
Oooh, I think your pockets are going to be very pretty! And that's an excellent idea for travel...I made my 18thc pocket (pretty crappily embroidered, but I started it four years ago, I think, so oh well) most of one summer on the bus ride to and from work.
I think that was when some very clever person asked me what I was knitting. ...How does this look at ALL like knitting?
I have been in travel hand sewing withdrawal ever since I finished hemming all the ruffles for my regency dress. I made my 18thc pocket most of one summer on the bus ride to and from work. YAY! Seriously? Knitting? That is a pretty big disconnect...
