I'd never heard it before, so I figured sharing with my LJ world was in order. :-D

My first thought was that explains the musical Candide. :)

Well, considering that I bet Voltaire was referring to opera, that fits. :-)

"I'm never gonna dance again: guilty feet have got no rhythm."
"Somebody left the cake out in the rain / and it took so long to bake it / I'll never have that recipe again, oh no."
"Yummy, yummy, yummy I got love in my tummy /And I feel like a-lovin you."

I got a million of 'em. :-D

Oh yeah, you bet.

"You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin.' "
"Songs you sang to me, sounds you brang to me."
"Only time will tell if we stand the test of time."

"Hold me closer, Tony Danza.
Count the headlice on the highway."

Okay, that last one was made up. :-D

These I don't know, but they sound like country lyrics. :-)

And those last two lines . . . misheard lyrics from

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0671501283/sr=8-1/qid=1141422510/ref=sr_1_1/102-1126216-8306514?%5Fencoding=UTF8

mayhaps? If not, they should be added in the next edition.

Some of my favorite misheard lyrics are in this book. It also enlightened me to real lyrics I was mishearing.

Also, of course, must never forget the Blue Swede "OOGA CHAKA!" version of "Hooked on a Feeling." :-D

Naw, the "Ooga Chaka" doesn't count, that's just "acappella" nonsense words, without which the song would have been very flat. Though the actual lyrics were... simple.

It could be argued that the Ooga Chakas were used as some sort of warped percussion, but I don't buy it. To me they're lyrics and worthy of mockery. :-D Not that it makes the song bad, I only own that version of it.

I was going to say that it explains opera, but yours is better.
