SG-1 10 season box set?

So I'm clearing out some of my DVDs and trying to consolidate them for ease of storage/display. Most of my SG-1 box sets are the old season sets, which are huge. I thought about getting the 10-season collection, but there are so many bad reviews on Amazon over the quality of the packaging and discs that I'm kind of nervous about that ( Read more... )

I have the ten-season boxed set. If it's the one that comes in the big shiny box with the plastic Gate on the front that you're think of, that is. I have no complaints with it at all, but then, I seem to be a lot less picky than some folks when it comes to packaging or picture quality or whatever. And I got it gratifyingly cheap, which may have predisposed me to be happy with it. But, hey, it's all the episodes, with a fair number of extras, and they all played fine.

As long as they play right, I'm good. :)

The reviews that worried me were saying multiple discs were pocked or deformed, etc. So you are relieving my mind.

Ah, yeah, nothing like that on my discs, as far as I ever saw! Mind you, I might have just been lucky. You might want to at least make sure to buy them somewhere with a good return policy if you do end up getting them.

Personally I wouldn't have bothered replacing box the box sets, because I find them more convenient - being able to pull out just a couple of episodes in a normal-sized DVD case. I don't find them huge at all, and I'd much rather spend the money on something new that I don't have.

We're trying to fit all our DVDs into our apartment, though. The old box sets are convenient in terms of individual disc storage (also, pretty), but they're more than twice the thickness of the newer single-season box sets, which is a considerable saving of space. That's why, if I decide to forgo the ten-season set, I'm still going to upgrade to the smaller box sets.

I briefly thought about getting rid of them altogether, but I love my SG-1 too much. Total comfort TV for me. :)

Yeah. I remember the realization, when I was writing someone an intro to Buffy and to SG-1, that while Buffy has its merits, it's SG-1 that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
