a Master's or further degree--preferably in some field where I can study fandom. Can't see the reason for the smiley. It would be a perfectly good field of research in Sociology or Social Anthropology. I graduated in the latter, and actually used superhero fandom as a term of comparison to explain the evolution of early Irish monastic culture (http://www.geocities.com/vortigernstudies/fabio/book4.2.htm).
The smiley was because my B.A. is in English Literature. Any field I went into with the intention of exploring fandom...well, the field itself would be of interest second to my interest in fandom itself. I like social anthropology, but I've never been interested enough to properly educate myself. I dabble.
I've met Dean Batali, who wrote for Buffy--he's the coolest TV-writer-also-Christian.
What episodes did he write?
I adore the liturgy in the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.
Oh it's great -- until you have to recite it every day except Saturdays. I went to an Anglican private school (as well as an Anglican church) for a few years, where the priest was going through the motions; it really made me hate the liturgy.
Now that I've been hanging around other denominations for 15-odd years, I can appreciate the Anglican liturgy -- once a year.

Um, he was on staff during the first two seasons. I think he wrote the swim team episode, and I know he wrote "The Dark Age," because he's a comedy writer and as a Christian he believes that demons exist, so writing that ep freaked him out. (I also think that's why it's so good--I love that ep.)

Oh yeah, I could see it getting old after that. Wow. I only had it every Sunday for a year in university, and now miss it remarkably.

That probably explains why the demon in that episode was more like a "traditional" demon than most of the demons in Buffy, which weren't really demons, but magical monsters.
Dude, Richard Dean Anderson is hot. And he got hotter as he aged. I mean, MacGyver was cute, but O'Neill is just gorgeous. (tho' not as much as my Daniel, but there you have it)
You've beat me on the LotR precociousness by two years. Go you.

MacGyver is great because RDA's uninhibited smile is just remarkable, and as O'Neill he never gets to use it.
But yes...the older he gets, the hotter he gets. Season 1 Jack is good-looking, season 5 is just -- *thud*
And I fully understand the Daniel fans. But RDA is still hotter. :-)

Really? It might be slightly less than 2 years cause I'm not sure if I was nearly 10 or not. I spent the next 5 rereads fixing misconceptions and misunderstandings in my head. :-) I couldn't make mental maps till I was about 14, so... I had some weird ideas/images. Heh.
