Name a character I've written about, and I will tell you three things that I think are essential to keep in mind when writing that character.

1) Daniel isn't just into languages, he's a word person. The concept is not the only thing important to him; how the concept is expressed is equally so.

2) He only talks as fast as he does because he's trying to cram in all the relevant details. Daniel's big picture is made up of million smaller ones, and he almost always cares more about those details than about the big picture. (This gets a bit less true as the series progresses, though.)

3) Daniel is fundamentally a deeply lonely person.

Oh, lordy, you would pick a really hard one! I've only written him once. :)

1) Eleven willingly admits when he is wrong, or has no plan, but rarely apologizes. He doesn't seem to carry much guilt, or at least he doesn't openly express it.

2) He's a bit of a mad scientist, always poking his fingers into things, messing about, constructing things and timelines and people. (See also: Space Gandalf!)

3) He's a terrifically physical character: clumsy, odd-looking, almost spastic at times, but also easily affectionate in quite a non-sexual way. (Some of that, I think, is due to how old he seems--paternal/older sibling vibes towards just about everyone, except perhaps River Song.)
