Hey, all. I'm still in job limbo. Hope to get back to the job I had this fall, which I loved, but also applying to other positions (notably, Eureka is looking for production assistants) while I wait

Set aside an hour each day to write, and try to get away from the temptations by being in a different environment. Me, I get a lot of my writing done on the bus to work, because there's nothing there except me and my laptop (and no internet connection). Is there a local library you could hole up in?
As for some really solid genfic recommendations, I shall see what is in my backlog, and perhaps post something tonight or tomorrow. No guarantees; I know what I've been reading a lot of for a while has been Harry Potter romances, which would not count as gen for most people. But there have been other stories in there too.
I do have a coffee shop (2, actually) that I use for this purpose. Libraries are hard for me to write in, because I... um... tend to talk to myself when I'm writing fiction. Not so noticeable in a coffeeshop, but very much so in a library. Heh.
I'm reading that HP AU you reviewed, right now. Not normally really my thing, but I do very much like how committed the author is to this AU. Very interesting.
Well, I just found a nice DS9 genfic Birthday Girl (Kira and Dax). And I bookmarked a few good fics on the AO3 recently, you could have a look there. "A Gallifreyan at Blandings" is really good, if you care for cross-overs.
I was just about to suggest that almost anything by PG Wodehouse would be a good choice if one needed cheering up, and that crossover sounds like it could be great fun.
Have you applied for the Eureka job yet? If not I found a great site with advice on writing CVs for TV. It's a great way of doing it. It might help :)
With regards to writing, can you get up and write at a specific time? Or make a schedule to say I will write from 12-3 or 10-12 at least. Something like that? I find telling myself even that I need to work on writing for at least 2 hours a day helps as often those 2 hours get longer... also try writing away from the internet.

I would definitely like to see that site with the CV advice! Could be super useful.
I think you're right, I do need to try and make a schedule and stick to it. Pray for my motivation?
