Oh, Janet. This is lovely and original and so very how I see them this early on. Her email at the end is excellent, whether her apparently quick recovery from the result is real or faked.

I had a lot of fun imagining Sam and Janet as early-stage friends. Close enough for Janet to tell Sam this secret, but not utterly at ease with that level of sharing.

I'm sure part of Janet's recovery (at this point) is faked, but this is the Lil' Doc we're talking about; she's a survivor.

I too missed that it was before "Singularity," which takes the sting out of it. She doesn't get a baby, but she does get a daughter!

Yeah, I apparently can't be too mean to Janet. *g* It kind of turned into a story about how Janet's maternal instincts woke up just in time to receive Cassie.

I love the look both at what might have lead to Cassie's adopotion and the glimpse into Sam and Janet's friendship.

Yay, you saw exactly what I hoped to get across: both the friendship and something that might have contributed to Janet's readiness to adopt a little alien girl. So glad you enjoyed it!
