WTF, USPS?

My landlord still hasn't received my money order for this month's rent, which was sent certified mail Saturday morning, Dec. 2

I only ever pay direct into his bank account. There are enough ways for me to be late with the rent as it is.

Oh, I wish they had something like that set up. As it is, we can only pay by check or money order, and we have to mail it in. Idiotic way of doing it, says I, putting yourself and your $$ at the mercy of the postal service.

I have never hung up on anyone. I just hung up on my landlord's go-between person (I think she's really the landlord in disguise, actually) because she kept saying that I should have sent it overnight mail and that it was totally my fault that it hasn't gotten to them yet and that I now owe a late fee.

Get stuffed, woman, I say. NOT. MY. FAULT.

You should have heard her on the phone just now. Um. No, maybe you shouldn't have. Prayers would be appreciated, because I've done everything I can do, and I hate the feeling that I'm being punished for something I didn't think to do. *sigh*

If it was sent certified, do you at least have a receipt that you can show the landlord? If he only lets you pay by mail, you shouldn't be responsible for delays caused by the mail.

That's what I just told them on the phone. They insist I should have sent it overnight mail (the heck? how should I know the post office would mislay it?) instead of certified. That it's now late and since it's my fault I owe a late fee and need to send them money (which, for their info, I DO NOT HAVE).

They wouldn't even take the certification number so they could check up on my story. I think they just want to blame me.

Up the wall? Try right out of the frickin' building into the parking lot, where I sat for 20 minutes trying to calm myself down. Bleh.
