Summary Miroku is glad that Sango accepted his proposal to bear his child

To one girl he was the hope that she could overcome her servitude. To another he was the hope that she would survive the illness which she had suffered from since birth. A princess possessed by a demon received hope that someone someday might love her despite her looks. All received his protection during his brief time with them. All cherished his words once he was gone.

Those words of hope were actually words that he truly meant. Mushin warned him that someday he would be sucked into his own wind tunnel.  Unless he found Naraku and killed him or found a woman to bear his child, he would be the last of his line. That must not happen. Naraku must die before he did.

From what Mushin said, both his grandfather and father had searched far and wide for Naraku They failed, but before they died they each produced one male child to carry on the family curse Each of them had the same weakness for women that he had. None of them could resist lechery and no woman could resist their charms. As a result the curse had been handed down to him.

He was no different. The charm which his father had was his to command. Every girl and every woman in every village that he passed through rushed to his side eager to be his. Eager to bear his child. Was it any wonder he asked each of the females he met in turn if they would bear his child? He needed to find that woman sooner rather than later before his time ran out.

Before he met Sango, he despaired of ever finding a girl to bear his child. The ones that said yes were either too young, too old, too fat or too married. Until he met Sango, he never found that girl that was just right. Mushin assured him that she would be there, but what did he know. The lecherous old man still lived in his temple.

Sango wanted his words. She was angry that he said them to every woman he met, but her. When he said them in jest she threw them back in his face. It was only when he actually said them as part of his proposal to her that she enthusiastically agreed to bear ten and even twenty of his children.

Now at last they reached that point where children filled up every part of their life. Just when he thought that Sango had reached her limit, she was ready for another child. There were moments before Sango that he despaired of finding love.

It was only Sango that saved him from death and gave him life. He was lucky to have found her. Lucky that she said yes. He would make sure that she knew how much he loved her every day of their lives together. She saved him by not giving the safe answer on the day he proposed
