There's something dark in the lightness of this; I picture Kohaku eating Rin's watermelon with the taste of gravesoil still in his mouth. A salvation for the unsalvageable, so to speak. Very nice. Of course it's the ambiguous sexuality in innocent acts that does it for me. I like seeing dark!fic that doesn't have a giant neon sign reading "I AM A FREAKIN' DARKFIC" once in a while, you know? Subtlety is good.

Well I'll be... must have written those parts in when I wasn't thinking.
The watermelon vs gravesoil is the basic light/life vs dark/death idea of the story. I felt it was a nice analogy.
