Breast Cancer

Jul 23, 2008 10:07

I don't think I shall remember 2008 as a good year. The Karate Teen had Burkitt's B-Cell Lymphoma and now I've been diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm allowing myself one hour for some extreme self-pity and then back to living the life I have ( Read more... )

I'm on a telecon right now, or I'd call and give support. Consider yourself hugged, and you know we're there for you if you need us.

Thanks for the virtual hug. My hour of self-pity is over and it's back to household chores for me.

By the way, I should ask: Do they know more details yet, or have a plan of attack? I know some are more attackable than others, and I'm hoping this is attackable in some form.

I see the Great and Wonderful Dr. W. tomorrow, and will start working on a plan then. I have no details of any sort to share, other than the initial phone call I had hoped not to get. Dr. W is out today, and my ob-gyn's office isn't open on Wednesdays. I will probably have to involve Dr. Kidney Chemistry, too, since there's no way that this stuff won't impinge on the treatment for the anemia.

Whoo-hoo! IXIXLIX becomes yet another case study. Dr. Urologic Surgeon did a paper on my original problems back in the year of many surgeries. I predict someone else will get a paper out of this episode in Bad Health.

(Oooh that came off a little bitter...)

It's OK. Be bitter. This is LJ. Just remember that you might make selected vents friends only. But for your mental health, this is the perfect place to vent and get support.

One last thought: LJ may be a good source of support. Doing a quick search, there are a number of potentially useful groups: cancersupport or breastcancer, for example.

There are lots of long term breast cancer survivors. I hope all goes well for you.

Thanks for the good wishes. I know two people who are breast cancer survivors, and I knew one person, the CAHWYGUY's sweet aunt, who survived a good long time but lost the battle in the end.

It's just going to be double-plus unfun around here for a while.
