I haven't been home enough to leave you a note, but I'm so sorry to hear about all this. I can't even imagine what it was like to hit that thing in the first place like that (metal rod, WTF?) and then be stranded, but then to have all this crap to fix make it even worse. One good thing, I guess, is that you have reminded me how much I need to get my wheels aligned because our roads in Seattle are so horrible, it's sort of like driving over metal rods all day. (In some cases, literally -- there are spots on the freeway entrance I take 3 or 4 times a week that are so worn down, the rebar is poking through and doing damage to the wheels, and I go over train tracks frequently that are missing huge chunks of concrete on either side -- it's mind boggling that they don't do anything about it).

Holy crap! And I thought Missouri roads were bad. Ours are positively pristine compared to that.
