So bitterly disappointed

I just finished watching Mel Gibson's Apocalypto

I purposely avoiding reading reviews because I wanted to make up my own mind. The one opinion I had heard repeatedly was that it was gratuitously violent. This didn't especially bother me because I was ready for it. I mean...duh! No matter how 'advanced' they were, the Maya were still a Stone Age ( Read more... )

Yeah, it pretty much sucked. I can't remember the last time I've been so disappointed in a movie. :(

Sweetie, say yourself money next time. I've been boycotting Mel Gibson's "historical" films _ and I use that term loosely - since Braveheart. All his historical pieces: Braveheart, The Patriot, Passion of the Christ and now Apocalypto are filled with historical inaccuracies that make me want to hurl. I refuse to show them to my students as they are extremely poor examples of historical films. I'd rather have them watch U-571 or God forbid Titanic - at least James Cameron did his research.

I work for Blockbuster and we get free rentals and get to watch movies before they hit the shelf. So the good news is that I didn't waste any money. But as for wasting my time? Yeah. Missed that boat.
