I can't even begin to tell you how much the nauseatingly cutsey contractions of fic pairings make me want to scream ( Read more... )

Heh. Having spent time in pop where everything is contracted, I sorta don't care anymore. It was annoying at first, especially because all the boys in nsync have names that start with the same letter and I didn't know which pairing was which.

I'll just have to avert my eyes and think of porn *G*

And noticing your icon, just where the hell did the name Sparky come from?

I'll agree with you on that. Contracting names is...annoying. Very much so. I still can't wrap my brain around the idea. I mean...c'mon, it doesn't take very long to type a whole name, unless you're my dad. But he types using the "seek and ye shall find" method of typing. -_-; Some of them make me want to kill things: Harmony (Harry/Hermione) Spuffy (Spike/Buffy). I mean...ugh!

Oh, god, I know, right? I did a spittake when I first figured out what it meant. Like, literally. Followed immediately by a headdesk. o_O

You would think that the press doing it with celebrity names (Brangelina? Is that right?) would be enough to discourage others. I mean, that's one of my rules: if the press is doing it, avoid it at all cost.

I can assure you that these guys ^^^ would not like to have their names mushed together. Would not like it at all.

GAG!

Yeah, I know we like to think of our OTP as two halves of a whole, but I think that's taking things a bit far. *G*

Amen, sistah. Preach it. Oddly, I don't ever seem to wander into fandoms (or pairings!) that can be contracted to nauseating effect. Thank goodness.

It's rare in whatever I'm interested in, also. It sneaks in around the edges though and it's quite distressing to see it pop up where least expected.

The 'Shex' thing just kinda pushed me over the edge.

(((shudders)))
