Ok I kind of desperately need to know what's written on Chris' lip. LOL. It's driving me crazy.
I'm kind of shocked how much I'm enjoying this. RPF + crazy soul mate AU apparently = pageturner. Excellently written, it's a lot of fun so far. Also LOL at Darren showing off his ass for more tips. Haha! :D
You know, I'm kind of shocked at how much I'm enjoying writing this! I've read and liked a lot of soulmate fics, but I never really thought about writing one until I saw this specific prompt and the whole damn world exploded into my head. There's a lot of mythology to the names and how they work as well as how the appearance of them has changed the world and how it operates, and I'm trying to get as much of it in there as I can without it feeling (too) forced.
I'm intentionally not reading the prompt because I don't want to spoil myself, so I don't know what you're having to work in, but nothing has felt forced so far!
Very little of the mythology I'm talking about is in the prompt, and Darren kind of touches on that small part when he talks about Ceecee in relation to his own. :)
How is it that you can take premises that really don't excite me (honestly, my first reaction was 'I think I'll pass, thanks') but then turn it into something so enjoyable? More please!
I'm SO intrigued by the name on Chris' lip, because it kind of has to have something to with Darren, doesn't it? But then Chris says it isn't a name, and something like 'Dare' doesn't really seem like it would be that mortifying to wake up with (more puzzling if anything). Plus you'd think he'd have that one figured out by now. I have complete faith that you know what you're doing, but the mind seriously boggles, lol.
Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying that I can't wait to read more of this!
P.S. - Christopher unfastened his seatbelt and stretched across Blaine to stare out the window. "A crappy apartment building?" I think you meant Darren? :)
Thank you! I've read and really liked a lot of soulmate fics, but I never thought I would write one until I saw that prompt and something in it sent my gears spinning. It's the world in which the story's set that's really got me going, and man - the stuff it's got me thinking about has been a lot more philosophically involved than I ever would have thought before I started writing it. It's nuts, but I love it. :)
At the risk of being a tease, Chris's mark said one thing when I started writing this, but it changed a couple of days in when I realized there was another option that worked much, much better. I've had to abandon one of the things I planned, but I think it'll be a better story for the change. :)
(and thanks for that catch! The Klaine fic I'm writing has a LOT of car scenes, so I think my brain just automatically went there by force of habit.)
I love that you used the word journey, because that really is how I think about stories as they unfold. It's not so much about the destination as it is the path it takes to get there. :)
Odd, first, you should know that it's your Crisscolfer that got me over my fear of RPF. And now it looks like you're goijg to get me over my dislike of soulmate fics too. You're so talented, I wanna he like you when I grow up.
If you told me even a week ago that I was going to write a soulmate fic, I'd have bought a hat and inquired as to the best method of preparing it for eating. I've enjoyed the ones I've read, but the trope in and of itself doesn't really appeal to me as far as the stuff I like to write. Something about this one just kind of leapt out at me, though, and it's been really easy to sink my teeth into. It's usually really hard for me to say I like something I've written, but I love this story, and I'm just trying my best to do justice to the way it's playing in my head. :)
Hahahaha - you shouldn't want to be me. My stuff doesn't get notes and usually loses me followers. I think those are both cues that you should be aiming higher. ;D
This is Kay, btw. I didn't think I'd he writing fic at all, so I feel you there. My fic doesn't get notes either. I don't get this fandom, your fics are amazing.
Oh my god, Kay - I knew it was you. ;D Totally random, but I saw a copy of Sheer Heart Attack on vinyl when I was at the flea market earlier and my first thought was "KILLER QUEEN! KAY SHOULD HAVE THIS!!!" I almost took a picture to send you, but then I remembered I don't have your number. Dork = me. XD
