Just what qualifies someone to see your vision of the world before their inevitable death?

Hmm. If they're useful to me or have given me a reason to care about them. Tenma resurrected me. There isn't anyone more worthy of seeing the end than he.

Roberto... I'm afraid he's not as interesting as he thinks he is.

Because they're available.

It really isn't anything personal. Johan has nothing particularly against kids, really, and the more enmeshed in Anatole he becomes the wider his net will reach. But at the moment, they're the victims of opportunity.

Was there something in particular that made Johan snap and become a psychopath or was he generally always somewhat unhinged?

He was Born Wrong. The manga really sort of goes out of its way to discount the idea that his sociopathology arises from any traumas, although he's had plenty of them. ;)
