Some thoughts on Lisa E's new picture tweet & interview

I'd like to share my thoughts on Lisa Edelstein's recent communications. Her new interview in TV Guide and the new  twitter photo of her on David Shore's lap seem to me to be part of a concerted effort to address her fans regarding the rumors and theories circulating about her leaving House MD. A few points:

Good analysis but.... spoilerchicka September 29 2011, 07:21:45 UTC
I think you're 99% right about everything regarding the two timely tweets and her close relationship with David Shore. From all accounts at the time of her announcement of not renewing her contract, every mention of it by a member of the House crew (Shore, Greg Yaitanes, Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean, etc.) has been pro-Lisa Edelstein. Everyone acknowledged their shock at her leaving on her own accord and everyone agreed she'd be missed since she is so loved ( ... )

Very interesting points, Cuddylicious, though how do you conclusively know Lisa "will not be back for even 1 episode"? I realize in her TVguide interview she said she doubts she'll pop up but that's not definite, as of yet ( ... )

I still feel awful for Lisa Edelstein no matter what a good sport she is being. Both she and her character deserved much better than the cruel treatment they got.

This !

And while they're talking about paycuts, why HL's salary is now $700.00 per episode ? I'm sure that Lisa 's pro-abortion campaign has something to do in her departure ; I'm sure of that since the beginning but maybe I'm wrong lol

Nobody knows what HL is being paid - the $700,000 per episode figure is just media speculation. But even if it's correct, HL had already signed his contract for season 8 before the show entered its death spiral.

The studio/network (I forget who's responsible for what) could no more break that contract than he could.

LE and the others were simply unlucky that their contracts were up for renewal at a point at which money needed to be saved because the show was doing (very) poorly.

If HL's contract had been up for renewal at the end of season 7, he wouldn't have had anywhere near the same bargaining power as he had when he renegotiated a few years ago.

Yeah I know but I read everywhere about the $700.000, then I think that even if it's speculation his contract has been raised, he was paid $400.000 since the last two seasons and the season 6' ratings were already bad ; my post wasn't against HL :) I'm glad for him but if they can pay him $700.000, 500.000 or 600.000, I don't buy their crap about the paycut for Lisa because they know that Cuddy gone, the show will not survive no matter what they can think or say .

And I agree that LE, RSL and JS has been very unlucky :(

Hello everyone

This is my first post.
I know much less than you all do but it seems that Hugh Laurie's latest interview showed some genuine sadness. He stressed Lisa's talent as an actress. Knowing this man is used to fine acting and refined artists such as Emma Thompson, his compliment cannot but be highly appreciated by Lisa E fans.
All I hope for her now after the Good Wife, is to become a true movie star, to be offered the opportunity to go beyond TV drama since she has the talent to do so.
What director will be sensible enough to offer her the role she deserves?.
Best regards, Isabelle Hévras, France

Bienvenue isahevras :)) I totally agree with what you say about Hugh Laurie ; I had the same reaction when I read/heard his last interview .

Hello Cuddysphone,

Thanks for your reply.
I feel flattered by the fact that you agree with me. This place is so full of Lisa E specialists that I feel as an amateur!
It is a pleasure to read those posts and to share ideas about this very special artist. Lisa stands out in the crowd of actresses. No one bears comparison with her, and certainly not any of the French actresses I'm used to seeing at the cinema.
Best regards Isabelle Hévras
