7x19 Last Temptation - Reviews

Let's start with Lisa Palmer of buddytv, who didn't love this episode because it was too heavily Master-centered: "I liked the character of Martha M. Masters. And she deserved a nice send-off ... But seriously? Enough was enough tonight. And truth be told, I think the powers that be over at House were way more in love and invested in this ( Read more... )

thanks for doing this! I'm always worried that my take on the episode might be too biased. Then I read these reviews and I realize that even these reviewers got the same impression: a whole episode focused on a character that was barely explored for 13 episode is too much. It's the second episode in a row that won't primaly focus on House's journey so to speak. Running away from a Huddy confrontation, writers?

yeah, I actually liked the episode, but it would've been better if it was focused less on Masters and more on House.

and tbh, some reviewers who really loved the episode (Barnett and Antony Ocasio) weren't included because their reviews weren't ready yet when I posted.

but while I liked the episode in itself, its 'collocation' so to say it's weird to me. House seemed in a pretty bad place after Out of the chute and Fall from grace (the hookers, the vicodin, the breakup, the wedding), and I was curious to see where all this would lead. Instead, the last two episodes were like a parenthesis in his storyline, which was a bit anticlimatic, despite them being generally solid.

I guess that's because 13 had to return and Masters had to leave right now... so probably they couldn't have done it differently...
or maybe it's intentional, they want to give us a couple of episodes where House seems ok (no vicodin for example) and then from 7x20 the tragedy begins lol.

I don't think the episode was bad, actually. It was average, and boring for me, but I didn't hate it. But I agree, the collocation is weird. House is in a very bad place, and all of a sudden our attention is shifted on 13 and then on Masters. And House looks fine, even from the ep20 promo. Calm before the storm?

Or .. they're waiting for the end of the season to do it because they know that it's what everyone is waiting for ! at least I hope that's what they're gonna do with the 4 episodes left .. =/

I agree with everybody here. I loved Masters, but I can't understand a whole episode about her, when they ignored her character for 12 episodes (just her first one was good).
They introduced her, left her there to do barely nothing for 12 episodes and made big deal of her leave.
Weird.

Too bad, I liked her, I wish they didn't turn her into an annoying Cameron as they did. It was a waste of potential.

Thanks for the reviews!!!!!

Well, I liked the episode and I confess more than the 13's one. I just didnt liked they used THE song (what a blasphemy). Anyway, it was great to have a break of the 'house' drama (hookers, green card wife, huddy, vicodin) for an episode.

And be ready because after the next week we will be shock and into tears, hating house, ds, gy and the world. The finale is coming and I dont think will be any good, they def want to screw up everything, so let it be.

That is what I was thinking. I expected to really hate the episode but I actually liked it. I was disappointed there was not more Cuddy but I found myself pleasantly surprised.

And btw, I preffer watch MM than Taub's love life. EW.

Honestly, that episode was (in the words of the great philosopher, Dr. Lisa Cuddy) "beyond asshood." Seriously, talk about bastardizing ripped from the headlines plots. You know, an amalgam of the surfer girl whose arm was torn off by a shark (new movie out) and the teenage female sailing around the world who was lost for a bit (parental responsibility discussion in the media last year). I guess TPTB decided on the sailing plotline and not the shark plotline as the setting for the amputation issue to avoid the inevitable "jumped the shark" comparisons for the show as a whole.
