LOLOLOL, I was reading the TWoP recap of Big Baby today and it mentioned Cameron calling Cuddy "Lisa". So I was like "WHAT. I DO NOT RECALL THIS HAPPENING
( Read more... )
I picked up on right away and it was WEIRD. I thought WILSON calling her Lisa was kinda weird, but considering the tone of the conversation and them being FRIENDS and all, I was okay with it. Cameron doing it? JUST WEIRD. It felt like she was trying to be one of the grown-ups. Like one day when you wake up and decide you're not going to call your parents "mom and dad" but you're gonna call them by their first names because you're ~equals~ now.
The big problem I have is that I can't imagine ANY of these characters calling each other by their first names. I had issues in JTTW, too, when Wilson supposedly wrote the note out to "Greg" -- WE HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM CALL EACH OTHER BY FIRST NAMES. I'm sure House and Cuddy could be mid-fuck, and it'd throw me to hear them call each other Greg/Lisa. (EDIT: LIKE I'D ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO HEAR AND PROCESS WORDS AT THAT MOMENT)
It WAS weird. It was all soft and quiet, too. Which is my excuse for having missed it. Just... why. She is Cuddy's subordinate, no matter how much maternity leave Cuddy takes and no matter how much fun Cam has playing dress up. It was just... condescending and overly familiar. Hated it. It was definitely some weird patronising power play type thing. Do not approve
( ... )
It was a heavy moment, but since I'm pretty sure Cuddy and Cameron don't even LIKE each other, it definitely seemed more patronizing than comforting, and more like it just made things even worse. I find that scene REALLY intense, and even though House is being honest and his tone softens, it seemed crueler than other scenes like that -- and I think it's at least partly because he does it in front of Cameron. IDK, Lisa just killed that scene for me, because Cuddy seems naked and completely vulnerable in that scene. JM just doesn't sell me... I didn't find Cameron as annoying, but JM seems monotone a lot of the time, and there's this weird smirk thing she was doing way too much in this ep. Meh, glad it was one ep, and as much as she does nothing for me, I was glad they didn't make Cameron TOTALLY incompetent
( ... )
I really don't think that they even like each other, either. It was absolutely the wrong time and the wrong place. And God, wrong person. I don't think Cameron could ever get away with that. I completely agree about the scene being more intense and House's analysis being more cruel and brutal because Cameron was there. It really stings all the more for that because she was vulnerable already and it only served to make it worse. I mean GOD that would have to sting. To have him lay all of that out in the open in front of her. I was watching with stop_theworld and she was really upset about it. Lisa nailed that scene. J-Mo not so much. Honestly I don't get how she acquired such a legion of fans and Olivia got all the haters. I find Olivia to be a much better actress

I noticed Wilson calling Cuddy "Lisa" the first time I watched the episode, but no Cameron, that I noticed watching the episode with subtitles, but it was a bit WTF??
I know, right? I was so excited when Wilson did. It's a big deal for anyone in this show to use first names. I was less than pleased that they went all cavalier and had Cameron say it at all, let alone in the same episode as Wilson.
It was kinda like "OH NOES, CUDDY IS HAVING ISSUES ADJUSTING TO BEING A MOMMY! WE HAVE TO CALL HER BY HER FIRST NAME IN SUCH SITUATIONS BECAUSE SHE TTLY STOPS BEING OUR BOSS FOR A MOMENT!" except that no, Cameron. No matter how sad she is, she's your boss and it's not OK D:
Yeah, it was like in X-Files Mulder calling Scully, Dana (well I don't compare the Mulder/Scully relation ship with the Wilson/Cuddy but you get the point), it is cute and lovely but Cameron calling here Lisa it's like Skinner to Scully. WEIRD.
I understand the Wilson thing, he is her friend and he wants to come more closer to her to console &hearts (like friends, I'm not wuddy XD)
BECAUSE CAMERON IS A CREEP AND SHE PRACTICALLY WHISPERED IT IN AN ATTEMPT TO BE COMFORTING. OR MAYBE SHE THOUGHT THAT BY WHISPERING, CUDDY WOULDN'T NOTICE. OR MAYBE YOU BLACKED OUT LIKE I CLEARLY DID.
SERIOUSLY, WTH WTH WTH.
(if you wanted to check it out, it's in the scene with House in Cuddy's office. Right after he says "You can't trust that Wilson guy with anything", Cameron says "Lisa, are you-" but gets cut off when Cuddy tells her she was just having a bad day. UGH UGH, GROSS, CAMERON. GTFO)
i can't believe it that she called her Lisa, i mean, come on, she is your boss, you aren't best freinds and just because you happened to play "big" and important it isn't a reason to call her by her first name " bitching mode":XD
in general, i have a problem with all the characters calling themselves by their first names, i think it would be to weird and strange.Though, i loved it when Wilson said it, it was in an emotional scene and it sounded sweet BUT hearing it from Cameron it was just obnoxious and not right "bitching mode continues"
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT I WOULD FUCKING LOVE TO HEAR HOUSE CALL HER LISA, ONCE, JUST FOR ONCE SDFSDGHSDUHUJ
One thing Cuddy was right about : "somebody's not nearly as delightful as she thinks she is." It was true in season 3 and it was true last night, dammit!
