The "land of ice and fire" seemed really amazing and felt quite extreme back then... ;) Unfortuantely, it was also a really expensive country and a trip there remained a dream of mine for many ( Read more... )

Good to see you had fun, and that you got a bit of an adventure out of your trip.

But, because language is so important, here's a bit to help you get away from the horrible effects of Swedish and English on your Icelandic ; )

Hallgrim's Kirkja = Hallgrímskirkja
Tingvellir = Þingvellir, or Thingvellir for the Norse-challenged keyboard.
Ting = Þing, og Thing
Geyser area = Haukadalur, or the Geysir area.
Stokkur = Strokkur
Guldfoss = Gullfoss
Mountain Road = Fjallabaksleið syðri, the southern route behind the mountains.

Touché! ;)
Jag lovar att jag ska försöka skärpa mig och mitt språk när jag skriver den andra delen av min reseberättelse! Eller kanske borde man lära sig isländska också nån gång... det vore ju trevligt!

Wow! what is that place with the lava formations in the sea? It makes chills go through my skin and reminds me so much of a place in a dream I've visited a few times...

That's the beach just outside Vik i Myrdal, on the Southern Coast.

It truly is an amazing country! If you plan your trip carefully and well in advance it is now totally doable and not more expensize than a vacation in the UK or the rest of Scandinazia, for instance.
I think I spent about 1700 euros ALL IN (that is including some shopping).
