Dear readers,
Some of you (I'd like to think many of you) may have wondered why I haven't done a full-length show on Rachel/Ivy in the wake of the subject coming up during my talk with
fembuck last year. Well, wonder no further. Due to scheduling conflicts, this week's show on Blogtalkradio's Femslash4Fans will air LIVE, not on Thursday at 10 PM, but on Sunday, March 14th, at 7 PM EST.
(Very providential conflicts, as it happened, since my desktop computer doesn't return until late tonight from having a virus removed, and I'll have an additional three days to recover from last week's appendectomy.)
Authors Savior, Jaina & Apatija- Rachel Morgan Femslash (& Why Kim Harrison Keeps Jerking Us Around)
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/allaine/2010/03/14/authors-savior-jaina-apatija-rachel-morgan-femslas Deeply in love, Ivy is repeatedly frustrated by her partner's atrocious taste in men, yet always comes back to her . . . wait a minute, this isn't my Poison Ivy/Harley Quinn show. This is my show on the "Dead Witch Walking" series written by Kim Harrison, now eight books and still going strong. But that doesn't mean there aren't similarities. The ultimate "will-they-or-won't-they", the close friendship and working relationship of the stubbornly straight witch Rachel Morgan and the very bisexual vampire Ivy Tamwood continues to dance teasingly close to romance - yet always infuriatingly steps away again. And Harrison's public statements on the subject are frequently belied by the words she writes. (Seriously, if they're not going to hook up, then stop making it look like they are.) Fortunately, none of that has stopped talented fanfic authors from pulling Rachel's head out of her ass and giving Ivy what she's been waiting for. We'll talk to three of those authors -
jaina47, whose stories include "Return to the Hollows" and "Let Sleeping Vamps Lie";
sav8801, author of the ongoing novella "Entre l'amour et la mort"; and
fanaticreader, writer of the "Kitchen is Mine" series. There will also be a discussion of "Black Magic Sanction", the latest installment which was just published on February 23rd, 2010, and what (if anything) it means for our hopes for Rachel/Ivy in the future.
As always, you can either tune in live, or download the show afterwards as an .mp3 file. All past shows, including Jaina's previous appearance on F4F as a guest for my NCIS segment, can be downloaded in this manner. Live listeners who log into BTR.com also have the option of joining the chat session that runs concurrently.
I hope you'll stop by :)
Sincerely, Allaine
