Have a meme while I desperately try to get over this pounding headache.

Pick a character and I will give and explain the top five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.

fandom, meme

Hmmm.. I suspect SOMEONE(S) will ask for TMNT characters so I'm tempted to leave them... aflightoffancy January 9 2011, 05:14:52 UTC
And we talk about a particular OC all the time.

Eh, why not. Tell me about how you decide to depict Issac.

LOL

Okay, I had a moment's time trying to decide if you wanted me to do this only for PORNO OZAI or SERIOUS OZAI but I'mma do serious Ozai for now, lol.

(1) Control issues. It's fairly obvious to me that this man has them, and they have to show up in his personal relationships, too. I think that Ozai is hyper controlling to the point of a mental condition, and he doesn't feel comfortable unless he is aware of every aspect of a situation and is capable of, well, controlling it.

(2) Megalomaniacal. Delusions of omnipotence, ahoy! Ozai clearly thinks of himself as godlike, or super-powered. Everything revolves around him, he is superior to everything, and he deserves to control the entire world. He goes to such outrageous extremes to do so.

(3) Theatrical. This guy not only takes himself to seriously, but he likes to make a show of things. He's a performer. Look at Zuko's Agni Kai with him: all done in public in front of a giant studio audience, very traditional decorations. And he couldn't just exile him or kick the crap out of him ( ... )

All which are why he'd either be BFFs or bitter rivals with Visser Three (from Animorphs) *nerd*

It's been a while since I've read Animorphs, so I have to think about this for a bit. Also, the answers I give might not be...satisfying?

Kelly from Misfits, please.

(1) I see her as being a very sensitive person- not just emotionally, but also emphatically. She thinks more about how other people feel than the others do, and is more easily affected by what other people think and feel as well. She's hurt easily by remarks, whether she makes it apparent or not.

(2) Protective. I would like to call her a big sis, even if it looks like she isn't one at home. It makes sense for her to have a younger sibling in my mind, or for her to be taking care of an ailing family member to some extent- she's self-sufficient, she likes to take care of people, and she has a protective streak in her that rears its head especially when people are being asses to Simon.

(3) Physical person. I see Kelly as someone who isn't overly comfortable in the verbal sphere and is better at communicating through gestures and, well, punches.

(4) Knows what she wants. Although this might be a little unfair, since it goes for a lot of Misfits characters. I like that Kelly is shown as having that longing for intimacy but not being ( ... )

Your thoughts on Kelly are so similar to my thoughts it's an effort to not just quote the whole thing and go "word."

She's hurt easily by remarks, whether she makes it apparent or not.

Word. (see?)

I see Kelly as someone who isn't overly comfortable in the verbal sphere and is better at communicating through gestures and, well, punches.

That's one of the reasons I loved Kelly inviting Nathan over for dinner so much. It illustrated so clearly that she cared about him, without it being said.

But usually dudes. I seriously want to smack the living bejeesus out of that ass of a first boyfriend she had, even if it's not actually his fault she read his asshole mind. Her level of trust issues seems to imply a history of being jerked around by dudes, though (see her telling Nathan she's afraid he'll be a user) and I think she has a poor view of the twofaced nature of people in general. Sadly, her powers really won't help that at all. Yeah, the only thing her powers could do in this situation is make her issues worse. Her life experience ( ... )

Ty Lee

(1) I have a bit of pet canon about Ty Lee being the youngest in her 'matched set'. I don't know why, but something about her behavior speaks 'baby of the family' to me.

(2) Rebellious. She was raised as a noble in a nation that prizes strict discipline, duty, and has a complete ban on dancing and other outright displays of fun. They even treat their bending as an outlet for rage and aggression. Ty Lee breaks out of the mold. She's happy, perky, and bouncy. She'd probably jump right out there like Aang and dance in public. she's spontaneous. She JOINED THE CIRCUS. Girl's a rebel.

(3) Empathetic and loves people. She seems to understand her friends and Zuko a lot more than they understand her. She's the only one Azula really 'opens up' for. I wish they'd fleshed her out more, since those glimpses of sensitive Ty Lee are really sweet.

(4) I see her as having a stronger attachment to the past, as well as being more of a real kid than her childhood circle. Mai's a stone cold killer, so is Azula, Zuko's becomes a tormented asshole- Ty ( ... )
