This was a pretty fun use of some of the odds and ends I have at home! The kids seemed to enjoy it just as much as Orientation, which I admit I was worried about. Because I'm still treating it like a 'class', and kids don't like school all that much. So, relief there! Of course it helps that these are magical classes. Today I also asked everyone to ( Read more... )

OH! *lol* I was looking for a human-like form in there. which one? My kids show me Pokemon cards all the time and I have old-timer fits about when there were just 150.

*lol* Some of them actually got kind of nervous at the prospect of holding it. Like, even the ones who did hold it were doing it really carefully, which was part of my goal. XD Ostrich eggs don't come cheap!

They are ridic adorable about this. I might blot out the faces on one of the dueling pictures next time. They get so into it, it's just amazingly precious.

You. are the best teacher ever and this is friggen precious and adorable. And I love the fact that you can do such fun things like this with the kids, you are probably making a huge difference for their imaginations.

One thing I've been curious about, since the HP series can be kind of touchy with some parents, have you had to deal with any wank about teaching their kids "magic"?

HEE, thank you! This is my favorite part of working with children- anything at all that gets them to have fun while using their imaginations. I love how they actually start believing in the magical part of the curriculum, like not touching the dragon egg or asking how to care for the boggleworms. I think I'm getting as much excitement out of it as the kids, honestly.

I expected a little, but haven't received any as of yet. Which is a shame, because I have all of my 'this is educational' speeches saved up for the possibility. So far one parent commented that the movies/books were 'scary', but that's it.
