It would have been! And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for that meddling writer's block!

But seriously, epic or chaptered stories are always a trial to me, because they're heavily reliant on my writing endurance and I often burn out on a fandom before I finish my fic.

Yeah, that one is a couple paragraphs saved on my dead laptop, which I still haven't been able to get an external enclosure for so I can transfer the hard drive files. I could rewrite it from memory and go from there, but I am still not feeling Naruto fanfic right now.

This fic could have been a Sai/Sakura fic, actually. I'd only gotten the plotty stuff worked through without thinking about any ships I wanted to put in there.

Do you sometimes get plot before pairing? Most of the time, I'll know what couple (if any) is going to be starring before anything else.

I found that in the stories I have that focus on plot, I get plot before pairings, and in the ones that focus on characters, I get pairings before plots. Maybe my mind only handles one aspect at once, or it's just the way it organizes things. Since I usually do character pieces, I'll get pairings (if any) before anything else.
