Okay, so 'A Very Potter Musical' is apparently pretty damn hilarious. It has a lot of pop culture references, the songs are zany, the characters are comedic and are generally great parodies of their book selves. The only real critique I have is the misogynistic tendencies of the jokes about Hermione and Ginny, (but Hermione's parody character ( Read more... )

Honestly, it was pretty much how Ron treated almost every female character that made me cringe. (Well, Dumbledore shared part of the blame, too, by calling Hermione a dumbass.) It just looked like the scriptwriter had a big hate-on for Hermione. O_o And yeah, that Dumbledore line was just...so true. I also liked the Scarf of Sexual Identity joke before it!

SAI PLUSHIE IS LOVE.

non-canon: Zuko/Katara! This is my favorite noncanon ship and I will continue to ship it as long as the mountains stand! It's full of tension and symbolism and strongly opposing-yet-similar personalities and steamy, steamy bending. LOVE.

canon: Sokka/Suki. Very nicely done, built up well, and Suki doesn't become a damsel with no opinions of her own, either. She stands her own against Sokka when he gets overprotective, and Sokka goes through the fire to save her! (Literally.) And then she proceeds to save everyone else by becoming Spider!Suki. Warrior/warrior love ftw!

dislike: Canon Katara/Aang. As in, what canon shows their relationship to be: extremely ( ... )

Also, I think I agree with you completely on the weirdly hostile relationship Ron and Hermione had in the books. Ron didn't respect her as a female and reacted to arguments with her by ignoring her completely and insulting her like crazy. Hermione didn't respect his intelligence or interests. Neither of them seemed to really understand each other, despite Rowling's desperate attempts to show how attracted they were to each other. It just looked like hormonal teenage lust mixed with a friendhsip that, dare I say it, was built on a common interest in Harry's welfare. Every time these two speak, it's about something to do with Harry. GAH.
