A Day in the Life of a Garden Witch..or A Day Made of Win and Pie....

The sounds of lawnmowers in the neighbors yards were loud this morning.  Robb says the only difference in those guys and him are their wives.  How so?  I asked.  He said they have wives that wake them up at the butt crack of dawn on a hot summer day to mow the yard.  He has a wife that wakes him up at the butt crack of dawn to stay in bed until ( Read more... )

Oooh! A greenhouse! Jim wants to build one eventually, but I don't know if we'll ever get around to it; I want to start a garden next year, so I'd like to concentrate on that. We'll probably have to do raised beds, as well, because the soil is extremely sandy here...but I'm all excited about growing some vegetables next year.

Congratulations on the green house! How exciting.

And a full Llama worth of wool? You must be in absolute heaven! Congrats on the spindle too!

I got to talk to a good friend the other evening who sounded like she was going to have a great weekend. :)

Your bed's ready for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. You like spahghetti, right? No 'shrooms though.

My tomatoes did poorly this year too. I have decided I am going to build more raised beds where the open garden space is, as you saw, I simply cannot keep it weeded and nothing did very well in it even though it has been heavily amended over the years. The tilth is great but I suspect (after having removed some of them) that there is nothing but huge granite stones 6-12 inches below the surface. Lucky you to have such a wonderful partner that will correctly build you a greenhouse!

If you're not using them, I'd be happy to take said granite stones off your hands. Just say the word.

Only if you want to dig 'em up. I use the ones we have dug up, I got a huge one out from under where I planted one of my blueberry bushes. I have a good idea where one large one is cause the corn planted above it was always stunted.

The veggies look and sound awesome. The greenhouse is really coming along. Spiders are cool, as long as they don't bite. Sounds like a great weekend. Mine was just quiet, didn't feel motivated.
