Star Trek Ficlet: Away Mission

Title: Away Mission
Pairing: Kirk/Spock/McCoy. Or not. Really, except for some references to the fact that I envisioned them in a fabulous OT3 pairing, this could as well be a friendship fic. I fail at the OT3, clearly. This doesn't fill, but was more or less inspired by this prompt and the "Away Mission" ( Read more... )

Oh, Jim, you silly man. They're totally ganging up on you for your own good, you know. ♥

Indeed they are *g* I adore OT3 fics, but have no idea how to actually write one--it was fun to take a stab at it, though!

:DDDD. Aww, this was so sweet :). Of course Jim's trying to hide his injuries, and Spock and Bones know him too well.

There was one thing that stood out to me, though:

“Successful, Mr. Spock?” asks Kirk sharply, too sharply, and not missing the look that Bones shoots Spock, which deeply irritates him even more. “Four of my crewmembers are dead, along with at least 30 civilians. Is that how Starfleet measures success nowadays?”>

I actually really liked how this was worded - it shows how Jim's maturing very nicely into a Reboot/TOS hybrid, sort of - but 'nowadays' stood out a bit, because it seemed - maybe a little old-fashioned? - for Jim to say. But that's very much YMMV. Otherwise, it was just completely adorable :D.

ETA - Oh, I didn't know it was your birthday! Happy birthday! I hope it went well :).

Thank you--for both the comment and the wishes! I'm old. WAH.

Thanks for pointing that out too--I was actually going for TOS Kirk, but sounds like I didn't get him quite right--gah! TOS Kirk's language is more formal and dated, but the feel of him is entirely different than AOS!Kirk--but I might have been writing too much AOS!Kirk and the characterization sounds like it bled over. Ah well--glad you enjoyed it anyway, and I shall make notes for the future! Thanks for the detailed comment--much appreciated.
