Awww, thank you very much! I'm so so glad you liked it, and that it worked to be as angsty as the prompt suggests. As I've said, it was a rather amazing and very specific prompt which meant all I had to do was fill in the blanks, but thank you all the same! As for sitting on it ... I initially didn't intend to, but I have insane posting anxiety, and so while I like the writing bit, the re-reading and posting and admitting to actually writing something is a different thing entirely. Thank God for anon kink memes!
Awww. I'm sorry? (I had, incidentally, originally had a chapter break after that first moment, but when posting it here decided it was too choppy, but I'm glad you still saw it as sort of a moment! It was what I was going for, so I'm thrilled!) As for McCoy, part of what I wanted to show was that he too wants this whole family schtick--he doesn't have it either, although he had more of it than Jim ever had--and unfortunately, Jim's choice here is not only self-destructive, it is hurting McCoy at the same time, but McCoy allows it because he loves Jim.
Thank you so much for such a lovely, detailed comment! It is very much appreciated.
What a heartbreaking pre-Thanksgiving story! This was a very unusual way to deal with Jim's lack of closure with his parents, and a very effective one. Hits everyone where they live, especially this time of year. You make me grateful for what I have.
Thank you! But I can't take the credit--it was a fantastic prompt, I just filled in the blanks. But I'm glad you liked it! :-) I tried to end it on a hopeful note, if not a happy one. Thanks very much for reading, and for your lovely comment.

Tears. Just, wow. All of the scenes with the family, especially Jim and George, broke my heart.
This is amazing, bb. I wouldn't have been able to sit on it for a year. :)
