Oh, wow. I think you may have broken me with this. At first, I was thinking, omg, I'm ded from the cuteness, but honestly, this fic is so heart-breaking. There's all these little things that slip in and kind of pull at you, because seriously, Dean and Sam had a terrifying childhood.

These are the bits that really really pulled at me:

He'd already lost his mother, he couldn't lose anyone else. That's kind of Dean in a sentence, right there.

Sammy slept with the bear every night after that for the next four years until they'd accidentally left it behind in a little town in Georgia when they'd needed to clear out and fast.

That's sadly exactly what would have happened, but it still caught me off guard. God. You know I'm for Dean, but this makes my heart bleed for Sam, too.

Dean fell asleep with a promise on his lips.

This is just sad because that is way too much responsibility for a five year old, but he never even second guesses.
