"Lately I have been spending time thinking about how much fun teaching a high school history class would be. But, the downfall to all that? The lack of pay."

-- To this, I can say that I thought the exact same thing. And after really thinking about it, I realize that teachers certainly don't get paid a lot, BUT, they don't hit poverty line either. A college professor can make about 70K/yr depending on the university, and that's just with a masters. Personally, I'd still rather teach high school level. History is a lot of fun, but it's not in high demand. As an afterthought, I picked up an education studies minor this quarter for teaching in sciences and I'm planning on getting my masters in education and applying to Teach For America as well. So bye-bye to pharmacy, for good. In the long scheme of things, isn't our happiness with what we do going to be enough? There's nothing wrong with being middle class...

And please give our friend a hug for me, and tell her I love her too. <3
