Her eyes aren't totally shut.

Edmund smiles, a little, and turns his head to press a kiss to her shoulder.
"Thank you for offering," he murmurs softly. "Might take you up on it, at some point."

There's a long moment and then she says, carefully, "If she really bothers you--well, you could leave, I mean. You don't have to stay here."

His arm around her tightens, quite a lot.
"This is my home," he says, sharply. "This place holds my family, the woman who's agreed to be my wife-- no. I'm not leaving. Not for her."

She's still held tightly against him, make no mistake, but not any longer quite so tightly as to be uncomfortable.
